#9 Bamboo Restaurant

Bamboo Restaurant is on Venice Blvd not very far from where I live. It’s Caribbean food.

Caribbean food!? I thought this is an Asian cuisine blog!
Well, that’s okay, we’re still early in the game, we have time for all 6,000 Korean BBQ places in K-Town and all those Boba places in the San Gabriel Valley, wait ’till we hit Little Saigon or Thai Town, it’s gonna get crazy.

Bamboo is a really chill little restaurant, with an outdoor area for the summer months for drinking your Sangria in the cool of the evening. It was cold this past week so we drank our Sangria inside.

This Sangria was really easy to drink. I’m kind of a fan now.

I’m a big fan of mussels, so we started with some. The sauce is particularly good and I wished I could’ve put this on the rice that came later.

My new food consultant ordered the Mango Curry Chicken.

The chicken was full of subtle flavors that was greatly enhanced with curry, pineapples, raisins. Raisins! I was surprised, it was excellent and full of depth.

I got the Churrasco steak, which came covered with some insanely good sauce, fried plantains, rice, beans, and pico de gallo.

Mikey Kwan recommended this place to me, I’ve never been to a Caribbean restaurant, so this was particularly exciting for me. Mikey is a serious traveling gourmet and I look forward to going to more places with him.
