We’ve made it!

First of all, I’d like to thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to stumble across this little idea of making a photo-oriented food blog, it certainly fits my gifts well.

I’d also like to thank my friends and family for their support for this past year. Without your recommendations and company, this website would’ve stopped at meal #7.

A special thanks to all of you who came to meal #50 to join me in our little celebration, this mean you — Matt, Bob, Layla, Michael+Amy K, Melkey, Elaine, Caitlin, Isabel, Deynica, Susan L, Nancy H, Daisuke T, Susan K, Tracy, and a big thanks to Take and the crew at Kushi Shabu for making our evening so pleasant.

50Meals.com is brought to you by Kevin Cheng with Technical and Design Support from Matt Chou. Kevin and Matt run Snap Creative, a weddings, portraiture and event photography studio based in the Los Angeles and San Francisco area. Obviously Kevin also does food photography and you can contact him at kevcheng (at) 50meals (dot) com if you’d like your menu to have that distinct 50meals look.

Here are some selected photos, a full gallery can be found here.

The calm before the storm. Kushi was chosen because it had a private tatami room that could fit 30 people. Excellent for parties.

Things were laid out so neatly and the service was impeccable.

Sesame sauce on the left, ponzu sauce on the right. I LOVE their sesame sauce, it’s good with everything.

Take brings out the stack of meat! It’s ON now!

I had to give a little speech…

…and the hard core deviant eating begins.

Take brings us more meat. This happened A LOT.
DSCF2822.jpg
Kushi also gave us unlimited pork for no extra charge. The pork is AWESOME and I might come back just for the pork itself.

The meat is beautifully marbled. This is the entry level beef, they actually offer two grades on top of this for somewhere around $35 and $45.

Matt and I had to try the beef raw. Why do we do this to ourselves, man, why? Actually, it was pretty good.

The empty dishes start to pile up…
DSCF2885.jpg
…we ended up with 28 on our side of the table.

We all felt pretty triumphant as Take cleared our plates…

We then left for Cefiore for frogurt, then went to Libertine for some House music + Live drums.

Thank you all for a great year! We’ll see you for the next 50.
