It’s summer and we need some barbecue! A certain Mr. Kamm recommended Baby Blues in Venice for some Southern Barbecue, so off I went to gather friends for meal #30.
It’s not a big place, as you walk in, you can see the large grill in the kitchen burning away, the aroma gets you first and the stomach growls, ready to process the gloriousness to come. (I’m feeling poetic tonight?) I managed to talk to both of the hostesses, who were very helpful and put together our dinner for 6 for me. These ladies were awesome and totally made our night.
The chefs hustle behind the blue tiled bar over the grill.
It turns out Baby Blues make their own sauce, here’s Angie holding up the “Porno” barbecue sauce.
We got our appetizer, Grilled BBQ Tiger Shrimp, served on corn bread. This was fantastic, I couldn’t imagine eating shrimp with corn bread, but it’s unbelievable how good it is.
The we got hit with the greatest tsunami of food ever…
Here’s the incredible beef ribs along with corn bread, collard greens, and mashed sweet potatoes. The sides were all excellent, but all were surpassed by the huge, fatty and flavorful beef ribs.
Baby back ribs.
Memphis ribs with Mac n’ Cheese, sauteed okra.
Ribs and more barbecue shrimp.
Mashed potatoes.
Grilled corn, this was very good.
I was stuffed beyond belief when the Angie and Kasey came back with the dessert. This was SO GOOD! Banana pudding. I couldn’t stop eating this, you HAVE to get it.
Goodness gracious, this was the most ridiculous, over the top barbecue ever.
Advice: If you want to live a colorful life, start a food blog and call your friends together once a week, promise them the greatest meal of their lives and run with it. The barbecue was excellent here, and all very reasonably priced. The Porno sauce was GREAT, it adds a huge, spicy kick to the meat. I couldn’t get enough of the beef ribs, the barbecued shrimp were SO good, and my mouth is watering now that I just remembered the dessert. Thanks to Mr. Kamm for the recommendation, big thanks to Angie and Kasey from Baby Blues for all their help, it was a GREAT meal, I can’t wait to come back here.

In the interest of full disclosure, the appetizer and dessert were complimentary.

I think audio or video will compliment your site very nicely. I really enjoy the pictures and your photographic style, but I often feel a lack of “content” or actual words. Just a quick suggestion
Devon,
I was just thinking about that, maybe I can get someone to do some video or just bring a recorder next time…
